HART’s RoadTech 1 course is aimed at people who have obtained their Learner’s Permit, but are looking to improve their confidence and motorcycle control prior to completing a Check Ride, and riders returning to riding after an extended time away.
In the process of obtaining a Victorian motorcycle licence, the RoadTech One course fits between the Motorcycle Permit Assessment (MPA) and the Check Ride.
The RoadTech Once course follows on from the MPA training, introducing a moderate increase in difficulty from the MPA, with more challenging braking, cornering and simulated riding in traffic exercises, conducted on the same training range as used in the MPA.
After the on-range exercises, there is a road ride briefing, discussing core on-road strategies and tactics, as well as strategies for planning rides. This will be followed by an on-road ride.
During the on-road ride, riders will be given feedback on their application of roadcraft tactics, and insights into how road hazards and safety can be managed will be shared, developing deeper insight into behavioral influences and motivations.
At the conclusion of the course participants will have experienced practice over a wide range of riding techniques along with extended on road experience and training. During the on-road segment, the instructor will provide individual feedback to each participant. Augmenting this experience is the additional benefit of practice on the participant’s own motorcycle or using a HART motorcycle.
