VIC Learner Permit Course

The Learner Permit course has been developed to provide critical riding skills for all experience levels. Importantly, this 2-day course teaches you the fundamentals of motorcycle control, and introduces riders to safe on-road riding behaviour and promotes a positive rider safety attitude. HART provides all motorcycles, helmets, gloves and jackets for the duration of the course.

The Learner Permit course has strict pass/fail criteria set by Vicroads. You will complete a multiple choice theory assessment, and two practical riding assessments.

Once you have passed all assessments and met all eligibility criteria, HART, on behalf of Vicroads, will issue you a learner permit.

At HART, we understand that learning to ride a motorcycle is challenging. The quality of the training you receive has a huge impact on how well you learn the skills needed. HART is confident that our trainers are the best in the industry. Your experience will provide you every opportunity to learn what is required to be a safe and competent rider. So confident are we in the excellence of our training, if you don’t pass first time, Free retest must be taken within one month of course commencement

On the day you need to bring

• Photo Identification
• Full skin coverage clothing - no shorts, three-quarter pants, torn or ripped jeans, or short sleeved shirts are allowed
• Jeans, or other full-length sturdy pants
• Boots or sturdy shoes, ankles must be covered
• A sturdy long sleeved shirt or jacket appropriate to the weather (a thick jacket may not be suitable on a hot day)
• A hat and sunglasses or eye protection
• In case of rainy weather, wet weather gear will be provided

Approximately 15.5 Hours over two days.

The course times are usually 8:00am - 4:00pm on each day. Check your confirmation email for exact times. (Please note course finishing times are a guide only, and your course may finish at a slightly different time.)

• Use of a LAMS approved Honda motorcycle
• Use of helmet, motorcycle jacket, leather gloves & wet weather gear for the course duration
• A FREE retest!
• VicRoads only charge permit issuing fee for previously held permit holders. VicRoads Assessment fee of $19.80 is included in the course fee
